Low carb pasta offers a lifeline if you feel like enjoying a spaghetti, lasagna or carbonara fix. I’ve eaten my fair share of pasta, pretty much daily for about twenty years. Sometimes twice daily. By the time I reached my thirties, it sure was beginning to show…
There are some good things about a pasta passion – you’re be eating a lot of eggs, hard cheeses and meat. Plus a dose of lycopene from all those tomatoes. But, for guilt-free pasta, you have to go low carb. Luckily, there are good recipes out there for many of your low carb pasta favorites. We’ve also dedicated a whole post to Spaghetti Squash recipes.
P.S. Check out the seaweed pasta recipe below – 100% wild, hand-picked, seaweed tagliatelle from Ireland! Who knew?

2. Vegan Keto Carbonara
Gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free and egg-free. Meat-free too, of course. All it has in common with traditional carbonara is salt and pepper! Vegan keto tofu bacon makes a special guest appearance in this recipe that is worth checking out if you’re so inclined.

3. Low-Carb, Gluten-Free Cabbage Lasagna
I’ve seen low carb pasta dishes made with fathead dough, seaweed (see below) but never cabbage. Makes sense though, if you think about it, as an easy way to make lasagna’s trademark layers and texture.
I haven’t tried this one yet, but it’s ready and waiting in a store cupboard at the back of my mind for that day I have cabbage, beef and cheese in the house at the same time.

4. Keto Carbonara Pasta with Konjac Noodles
Carbonara was my go-to daily pasta lunch back in the Fat Old Days. I’ve eaten my own bodyweight in spaghetti, eggs and bacon over the years. I recall once when suffering culture shock in Tokyo that I ate two (maybe three) times on the same day. So it qualifies as comfort food, for me at least.
So I was really pleased to find a great keto low-carbonara recipe at last. This one uses Konjac Shirataki pasta noodles, which has zero net carbs and zero calories. Which leaves it up to the sauce to nourish you. It’s heavy on cream, parmesan, eggs, bacon and chicken breast, so no problem there!

5. Cauliflower Mac & Cheese
Hold on… isn’t this just cauliflower cheese? No!
It’s mac’n’cheese… but without the mac. (Gotta admit, I’m not convinced about this one)

6. Spaghetti Squash Carbonara
Back to your scheduled broadcast… A proper recipe. This one uses spaghetti squash, which is pretty easy to prepare and roast. This technique uses a traditional carbonara sauce – pancetta, garlic, parmesan, parsley are all present and correct here.
New: we’ve also published a collection of 20 more of the Best Spaghetti Squash Recipes.

7. Keto and Gluten-Free Pillow Soft Ravioli
Not only gluten-free but entirely grain-free, these ravioli are best fried rather than boiled in water. Spinach and ricotta are used in this recipe but you could use your favorite – Tuscan sausage, lobster, mozarella, asparagus, duck confit… many possibilities if you’re going low carb.

8. 2-Ingredient Keto Pasta
Culinary magic is at work here, combining mozzarella and egg to form a dough that can be rolled out and transformed into tagliatelle, lasagna sheets or farfalle, for example. Versatile and tasty, it’s hard to see how it can be so low in carbs.

9. Keto Fettucini Alfredo
Alfredo is one of the simpler pasta dishes, a silky combination of butter and parmesan. This keto pasta recipe uses a cream cheese and egg fathead-style pasta dough and mascarpone in the sauce. A lot of fat, few carbs and so very rich and satisfying.

10. “Just Like the Real Thing” Keto Low-Carb Lasagna
So we’ve had cabbage lasagna, the best lasagna ever and now another low carb lasagna that is even better than the real thing. Egg and three kinds of cheese combine for the pasta, layered with a rich ground beef sauce. 10 out of 10 for this one.

11. Prawn Arrabiatta with Zucchini Spaghetti
Spiralized zucchini has long been used as a pasta substitute, you can even buy it pre-made in supermarkets lately. It needs a good, strong sauce to work, in my opinion, as zucchini does risk being a little bland. This sauce certainly qualifies, with plenty of chilli kick. One to save for Summer.

12. Keto Spaghetti Squash Puttanesca
A good puttanesca can instantly transport you to an Italian harborside restaurant. Strong flavors of the sea dominate here with a little red pepper heat. Serve with spaghetti squash, zucchini noodles and a large glass of very cold Pinot Grigio (or Primitivo if you prefer red).

13. Low Carb Amatriciana Pasta
Pork, pecorino cheese and ripe tomatoes are the basis for this excellent sauce. I like to add a good helping of chilli flakes to this dish to give an extra kick to the abundant umami flavors that make this recipe so delicious. Easy to make too.

14. Low Carb Creamy Bolognese with Zucchini Noodles
There is probably one true bolognese approved by UNESCO or whoever (there is, I knew it!) but this one heads off in creamy direction.

15. Creamy Paleo Zucchini Pasta With Artichokes & Turkey
A cold, creamy pasta dish from Australia with great things like artichoke and diced turkey meat. Totally different to any other recipe here, had to include it as it might get your tastebuds dancing.

16. Low-Carb Keto Lasagna Bowls
Smart recipe. Lasagna that’s low carb because it doesn’t use pasta (or anything pretending to be pasta) at all. But because they’re made individually, in bowls, it’s easy to add or take away ingredients or layers, as desired by each guest.
From: 730 Sage Street
17. Paleo Lasagna Soup
This recipe takes more time and more ingredients (all unprocessed and healthy), so it’s not the simplest here. But it is delicious and original, and nary a carb in sight.

18. Keto Spaghetti Bolognese
Spaghetti bolognese is most people’s introduction to the wide and varied world of Italian cooking. Every family has their own recipe. Some insist on chicken livers in the, some add bacon, or cheese, or cream, or all of them. This looks to be a good one – yes, there’s bacon but there’s also paprika and a little sweetener and heavy cream. Rich, filling keto bolognese.

19. Zucchini Spaghetti with Seaweed Pesto
Seaweed is looking like an ingredient that is come out of the ocean and conquer the land. Mineral rich, plenty of umami flavour, sustainable, abundant – it ticks a lot of boxes. Here it’s prepared as a pesto, which is great, interesting and new. But in the next recipe… seaweed used as pasta.

20. Seaweed Pasta all’Amatriciana
Seaweed pasta from Seamore Food – I can only find this wonderful stuff in Europe but it’s sure to make it over here soon. This recipe uses their I Sea Pasta Tagliatelle – I Sea Bacon and I Sea Wraps are also available.
It’s no surprise that on this good green earth or somewhere in all the world’s oceans there’s something, somewhere that tastes and looks like pasta. In fact, people in Ireland, Portugal and Norway have been eating for many years. But did they ever have it with a really good pasta sauce? With this recipe, you can.
